July 25, 2006: Press Release No. 08 - Nur Ali Motorsports Academy and Motorsport Pakistan Unveiled Print E-mail
Karachi, Pakistan - Nur Ali, hailed by President Musharraf as the "The Pioneer of Motorsports for Pakistan" has taken Pakistani Motorsports to a new level today by introducing Motorsport Pakistan (MSP), the first Motorsport program in the country and the Nur Ali Motorsports Academy (NAMA), the first racing school, talent hunt and scholarship program of its kind in Pakistan.

"Today is a new day in Pakistani Motor Racing and Motorsport and I feel honored to be part of this exciting endeavor which will truly give an opportunity to the young men and women of this country to pursue their dreams in becoming the next racing instructors, track facilitators and race car drivers", Ali stated.

NAMA_Unveiling.JPGNur is not alone in this endeavor as he along with Tausif Agha, a motorsport professional with over two decades of experience, Shahzad Sheikh, a Dubai based automotive journalist and PR expert and Dr. Ovais Naqvi, a doctor and aspiring racer based in Karachi who are lending their support to the project.

Tausif Agha, founding member of Motorsport Pakistan states, “Pakistan has been left way behind even its closest neighbors when it comes to motor sport. But it’s about to get a real kick start with the birth of MotorsportsPakistan.com. And at our launch event and motor sports seminar in Karachi today, we’ll be announcing plans to literally bring Pakistan up to speed when it comes to cars and motor racing.”

“We are delighted to confirm that professional Pakistani racing driver Nur Ali has come on board as one of the founding members. President General Pervez Musharraf has described Ali as pioneer of motor racing for Pakistan, and we are delighted that Ali will find time between racing in the United States to be an active member of the new venture. We are also pleased to announce the launch of the Nur Ali Motorsports Academy which will play a crucial role in actively encouraging motor sports in Pakistan, and help bring forth a new generation of potential race Champions from our nation!” Agha states.

Motorsport Pakistan along with Nur Ali Motorsports Academy will work jointly to bring new avenues to aspiring racers and enthusiast to not only have an opportunity to pursue the field of motor racing, but have a chance to enjoy their personal vehicles on tracks around the country in a safe and supervised environment. "The interest and support is there. I can personally vouch for this as the tremendous support from the country has been there for me over the past 8 years as the only professional race car driver from Pakistan at any level of competition. If the interest is there, then why not bring it to the masses?" states Nur.

Nur further states, "The whole purpose of the launch in Karachi with MSP and NAMA is to get the concept out there that there is something in the works when it comes to Pakistani Motorsports. Like many other countries around the world that are involved in racing schools, tracks and other ventures, we at MSP and NAMA want the same international standards and quality to be associated with our two new programs."

The short term goal in the coming months for Nur Ali Motorsports Academy is to find and train talent from Pakistan to have the next generations of future Pakistani race car drivers, including women. This will consist of a nationwide talent hunt or contest which will include but not limited to physical fitness tests, media savyness and many other factors. The winner of the first contest will get an opportunity to attend the 3-day professional racing school at the Formula BMW Performance Center in Bahrain. The evaluation criteria and contest will be announced as soon as the details are finalized. The long term goal in conjunction with Motorsport Pakistan is to build race tracks around the country, the first one to be constructed in Karachi.
